My story
Hi! I’m Jake - a software engineer and current teaching fellow at
Fullstack Academy of Code. One of the things I love most about
software is its ability to drastically improve people’s lives,
which is why I strive to make the applications I create impactful
and meaningful to the people who use them.
Before becoming a software engineer, I worked as the Assistant to
the Executive Director/Board Liaison at the Committee to Protect
Journalists, a human rights organization dedicated to press
freedom around the world. Always a person drawn to logical ways of
thinking, I began teaching myself to code in my free time,
learning the power of languages like Python and Javascript. After
two and a half years spent with amazing colleagues, I left my job
and enrolled at Fullstack Academy, a 3-month immersive bootcamp
where I learned the ins and outs of some of the most important
Javascript technologies. After a successful time as a student, I
was selected to Fullstack’s 3-month teaching fellowship for the
next cohort of students.
